Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May. This year is May 13th. Mother's Day originated in Grafton, WV by Anna Jarvis. In 1908 President Wilson made it an official National Holiday in 1914. Anna Jarvis died in 1948 regretting that Mother's Day had become a "Hallmark Holiday," which means it is very commercialized. "I wanted it to be a day of sentiment, not profit."

This is a holiday celebrated on the Last Monday of May to remember our soldiers who have fallen during wars. This Federal Holiday was started, we believe, directly after or right before the Civil War. Southern families would "Decorate" the grave of a soldier from the Civil War. Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day. Please remember those who have fought so that we could be free.

Valentine's day honors a Christian martry named Valentine. Valentine was a priest in Rome who was martyred about AD 269. Valentine's Day has become very commercialized. Flowers, Candy and Jewelry are the normal gifts given to a special someone.
Easter
What Easter means to me. I celebrate Easter because of what Jesus did on the cross for me. Friday is the day He was crucified. Sunday is the day he overcame the grave and rose again. That is what Easter means to me. However many people celebrate in different ways. Kids may go on an Easter Egg hunt, Easter Egg roll or they may go to a family dinner. Its a wonderful holiday and I actually consider it they best holiday of the year.

It is celebrated on November 11th and is a Federal Holiday. Also, Veteran's Day is known as Armistice Day or Rememberance Day around the world. Veteran's Day is always celebrated on November 11th no matter what day of the week it lands on. This Veteran's Day happens to be a very special one: it's 11-11-11.

Russo-Georgian artist Zurab Tsereteli dedicated a sculpture titled "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism" to NJ in 2006. If you look closely you can see were the twin towers would have been. (see faint lines in background.)

The Gail's of Great Britian celebrated the end of summer, this is how Halloween got started. My family celebrates Halloween every year with a birthday party for my nephew Jake. We carve jack-o-lanterns and eat pizza and cake. Looking forward to Jake being 17 years old.
